Orphan girl Anne experiences her first day on "Green Gables", her foster parents' farm. She is enchanted by the beautiful landscape. She is particularly taken with the blossoming apple tree in front of her window, and she calls it the "Snow King". But Anne's happiness is still threatened. Because her foster parents, the Cuthberts, have not yet decided whether they want to keep Anne.
