Upon discovering the cat has a hole in its throat, Shinobu sends Kira down to the basement after being unable to force the cat out. Shinobu learns she accidentally killed the cat when it got stabbed by glass shards. After being buried in the garden, the cat reincarnates as a strange plant known as Stray Cat, gradually piecing together what happened while learning it can manipulate compressed air. Stray Cat attempts to get revenge on Shinobu with Kira nearly getting himself killed. Kira appeals to Stray Cat's feline nature, and hides it in the attic after seeing its potential use to him. The next day, Hayato is attacked by Stray Cat when he exposed it to sunlight while investigating the attic. Hayato puts Stray Cat back to sleep and hides before being discovered by Kira, realizing the man is not his real father.
