Adora, a young cadet who lives a sheltered life in the Fright Zone, is promoted to force captain of the Horde, an evil army led by Lord Hordak that rules most of the planet Etheria. To cheer up her best friend Catra, who is not to be permitted to participate in an upcoming attack on Thaymor, Adora sneaks away with Catra to the Whispering Woods. After accidentally crashing their ship in the woods, Adora finds a mysterious sword and begins having visions upon touching it. She is found by Catra, and they return to the Fright Zone...
