On the Klingon ship Che'ta, lower decks officer Ma'ah hopes to be second officer to Captain Dorg. He earns Dorg's respect and accompanies him to a meeting with the Pakleds, where he is distrubed to learn that Dorg has been supplying the Pakleds with weapons and Veruvian bombs for use against Earth. On a Vulcan cruiser, the Sh'Vahl, lower decks officer T'lyn is criticized by her captain and fellow crew for her emotional reasoning but is able to convince them to investigate an anomaly in the sector. T'lyn has detected the Pakleds' testing of the Veruvian bombs, which the Cerritos also detects and investigates...
