The magician introduces himself as Stiyl Magnus and explains that his partner named Kaori Kanzaki unintentionally hurt Index, believing that the latter's habit would protect her from attacks. He explains to Töma his mission to retrieve Index due to her photographic memory of 103,000 grimoires of the Index Librorum Prohibitorum. An enraged Tōma attacks Stiyl but the latter responds by using fire magic. The magician is surprised to see him nullifying his spell attack, causing him to summon a fire creature called "Innocentius" to counterattack...
